TOPEKA, Kan. – Several Alliance Defending Freedom clients will participate in a rally for religious freedom at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka Wednesday.
Joining Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and Heritage Foundation religious liberty expert Ryan Anderson will be ADF clients Barronelle Stutzman, a floral artist sued by the Washington attorney general and American Civil Liberties Union for abiding by her faith; Hernan Castano, one of five pastors whose sermons were subpoenaed by the city of Houston; Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life and litigant against the Obama administration’s abortion-pill mandate; and Dr. Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, also a litigant against the abortion-pill mandate.
“All laws and government actions should respect the constitutionally protected freedoms of every citizen, no matter who they are; otherwise, those laws and actions are unjust,” said ADF Legal Counsel Kellie Fiedorek, who will also be available for media interviews following the rally. “Every American should be free to live and work according to their faith without fear of punishment by the government. We are proud of the courageous men and women who will speak at this rally about what it means to them to take a stand for both their freedoms and the freedoms of all Americans.”
The Kansas Catholic Conference; Family Policy Alliance of Kansas; Faith, Family and Freedom Alliance of Kansas; and Concerned Women for America are hosting the rally.
