The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom President, CEO, and General Counsel Michael Farris regarding President Donald Trump’s nomination Monday of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to fill the current vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court:
“Any judge or justice should interpret the Constitution faithfully and according to the intent of the Founders who wrote it. The president promised to appoint justices committed to doing just that, and we’re hopeful Judge Kavanaugh shares that commitment. While ADF doesn’t take a position on the merits of Supreme Court nominees, we, like most Americans, believe that respecting the Constitution in this way is essential to protect our precious freedoms, including our first freedom—the right to peacefully live and work consistently with one’s religious beliefs.”
