NM town may appeal 10th Circuit ruling against 10 Commandments monument

Wednesday, Nov 9, 2016
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Jonathan Scruggs regarding the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit’s decision Wednesday in Felix v. City of Bloomfield that upholds a lower court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the lawn of City Hall:

“As the U.S. Supreme Court recently made clear, a constitutional violation doesn’t occur simply because a person encounters speech he finds disagreeable and ‘experiences a sense of affront.’ In this case, a Ten Commandments monument nestled among many other monuments honoring significant documents in American history shouldn’t be attacked simply because two people feel offended by it. For these reasons and others, we are consulting with our client to consider their options for appeal.”
