Multiple losses for Planned Parenthood in Ariz., Ala., Kan.

Monday, Mar 31, 2014
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Steven H. Aden regarding multiple new legal setbacks for Planned Parenthood in Arizona, Alabama, and Kansas:

“Planned Parenthood’s efforts to put their profits ahead of the safety of women and children continue to fail. From Arizona to Alabama to Kansas, America’s largest abortion seller has not succeeded so far in its opposition to common-sense laws that put women’s health and well-being ahead of Planned Parenthood’s bottom line.”

  • In Arizona Monday, a federal court refused to place a hold on Arizona’s law that requires abortion-inducing drugs to be dispensed according to Federal Food and Drug Administration rules.
  • In Alabama, also on Monday, a federal judge denied Planned Parenthood’s request to rule immediately in its favor in a legal challenge to the state’s law against cut-and-run abortionists--a regulation that requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at local hospitals. Instead, the judge ordered the case to trial.
  • In Kansas, a federal appeals court ruled last week that the state does not have to keep funding two abortion facilities in light of a state law that says that public health departments and hospitals have priority for such funding.
