“Judge Bork has always been a man who grounds his public words and actions not in the whims of a moment’s anger or despair, but in a deep understanding of the unchanging principles of truth,” said ADF President, CEO, and General Counsel Alan Sears. “Those of us who hold fast to the words and meanings of the men who conceived our Constitution rely now, more than ever, on the frame of reference Judge Bork has articulated across a lifetime of intensive study and eloquent presentation. It is the power of his mind, as well as the content of character, that has impacted all who have known him these many years.”
ADF established the award last year in honor of Edwin Meese III, who was the first recipient of the award and served President Ronald Reagan as the nation’s 75th attorney general. Accepting the award from Sears this year on Bork’s behalf was his wife, Mary Ellen Bork.
“While we wish Judge Bork’s health was strong enough for us to personally present this award to him, I know that his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, and members of his family, will faithfully convey to him the spirit as well as the substance of this tribute,” said Sears. “It is a privilege to honor his lifetime of service to our nation with this award.”
