ADF condemns attack on California Congregation Chabad, other attacks on people of faith

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom President, CEO, and General Counsel Michael Farris regarding the recent attack on Congregation Chabad in Poway, California:

“Alliance Defending Freedom strongly condemns the recent attack on Congregation Chabad in Poway, California. This cowardly, evil act of violence against Jews joins with the recent attacks on mosques in Christchurch and churches in Sri Lanka to show a widespread and inexcusable animus against religious groups of all varieties: In the space of a few short weeks, the world’s three major monotheistic religions have all faced tragedy. Other religious groups around the world are no less subject to danger and persecution.

“ADF stands with Congregation Chabad, the Christchurch mosques, the Sri Lankan churches, and all those made to suffer for their religious beliefs. The right to freely choose and practice one’s religion is the most fundamental and sacred freedom that a person possesses.

“Justice must be done on behalf of the victims, and every effort must be taken to ensure the security of houses of worship of all types in all places. Houses of worship are understood to be places of refuge and peace even in times of upheaval and war. These cruel and evil assaults in New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the United States betray on the deepest level the trust between people that is the basis of society. ADF calls on people of good faith from all religious traditions and from no religious tradition to spare no effort in ensuring that freedom of religion or belief is respected across the world.”
