SAN DIEGO — Alliance Defense Fund Senior Vice-President and Senior Counsel Joseph Infranco will join numerous other religious leaders Friday at the San Diego “Speak Up for Religious Freedom” rally. The rally will express opposition to the Obama administration mandate that forces religious organizations to provide abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and other contraceptives through their insurance plans. ADF-allied attorneys will be attending similar rallies taking place in 60 cities nationwide.

“This is not about contraception; this rally is about the government trying to impose its agenda on people of faith,” said Infranco. “It is an honor for me to stand with other religious leaders to send a clear and unequivocal message to the Obama administration that we will not let the government run roughshod over our freedoms, beliefs, and consciences. We are coming together to draw a line in the sand and tell the Obama administration that we are going to take a stand in defense of our religious freedom.”

Other speakers participating in the rally include Dr. Jim Garlow, pastor of Skyline Church; ADF-allied attorney Charles LiMandri of the Thomas More Law Center; Bishop Cirilo Flores of the San Diego Catholic Diocese; and Bishop George McKinney of St. Stephen’s Church of God in Christ.

“Moral conscience is the ultimate safeguard against wrongdoing. Protecting conscience protects us all,” said Infranco. “ADF, which would be affected by this ‘mandate,’ will not comply with it, and we will defend other religious organizations that also choose not to comply on the basis of their constitutionally protected freedoms.”
