5th Circuit frees up Louisiana women's safety law

Wednesday, Feb 24, 2016
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Steven H. Aden regarding Wednesday’s decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in June Medical Services v. Gee to grant an emergency stay of a Louisiana district court’s injunction against a law that requires abortionists to possess admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their abortion facility. Aden served as special trial counsel for the Louisiana secretary of health:

“Abortionists shouldn’t be given a free pass to elude medical requirements that everyone else is required to follow. The 5th Circuit was right to allow the law to go into effect. Its requirements are common-sense protections that ensure the maximum amount of safety for women.”
