ADF attorney to participate in press conference on Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act
Tuesday, Mar 31, 2009
WHO: ADF Senior Legal Counsel Steven H. Aden
WHAT: Press conference on introduction of Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act
WHEN: Tuesday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. EDT
WHERE: Cannon Terrace (northeast corner of the House Cannon building, off Independence Ave.), Washington
WASHINGTON — Alliance Defense Fund Senior Legal Counsel Steven H. Aden will participate in a press conference Tuesday regarding the introduction of the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act by Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona. The bill would prohibit knowingly performing, or soliciting funding for, race- or sex-selection abortions.
“No one should be allowed to decide that an innocent life is worthless, least of all because a child isn’t of the preferred sex or race,” said Aden. “Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, may have approved of such barbarities, but we believe most Americans don’t. There is nothing constitutionally protected or medically necessary about an abortion that takes place because a child is not the preferred sex or race. And there is nothing in the law or the Constitution that prohibits America from joining other civilized nations in prohibiting such barbaric procedures.”
ADF worked closely with Rep. Franks’ staff on the language of the bill. Aden said the bill’s language is both constitutionally sound and good public policy.
“ADF commends Rep. Franks for his leadership in affirming the rule of law’s protection for every American, regardless of race or gender, beginning in the womb,” said Aden, who will join other congressmen and pro-life leaders at the press conference.
ADF is a legal alliance of Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations defending the right of people to freely live out their faith.
