The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel and Vice President of Litigation Strategy Jonathan Scruggs regarding the North Dakota Supreme Court’s decision Thursday in T.D. v. Wrigley, upholding the state’s law protecting children from medical transition procedures:
“Our laws should protect children and recognize biological reality. North Dakota’s law does exactly that by ensuring that children experiencing gender dysphoria won’t be subjected to dangerous drugs and surgeries but will have the chance to heal through evidence-based medical care. We applaud the North Dakota Supreme Court’s ruling upholding this common-sense law, just as the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a similar law in United States v. Skermetti. We also commend the work of Attorney General Drew Wrigley and his office for defending the North Dakota law and protecting children throughout the state. Children across the country have suffered for too long because of the lies of gender ideology. We look forward to seeing more state legislatures reject this lie and follow the examples set by North Dakota and dozens of other states.”
ADF attorneys filed a friend-of-the-court brief with North Dakota’s high court in May urging it to affirm the state’s law protecting children.
