ST. PAUL, Minn. – Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing Female Athletes United will be available for media interviews Monday following a hearing in Female Athletes United v. Ellison. In the case, FAU is challenging a Minnesota athletics policy that violates Title IX by allowing males who identify as female to compete in girls’ high-school sports.
“Minnesota is failing its female athletes,” said ADF Senior Counsel Zachary Tyree, who will be arguing before the court. “The state is putting males ahead of females, telling girls that—despite their hard work—they don’t deserve a fair playing field. By sacrificing fairness and safety for female athletes, Minnesota fails to provide girls equal treatment and opportunity, violating Title IX. We are urging the court to enforce Title IX’s guarantee of equal athletic opportunity and halt Minnesota’s discriminatory policy.”
