ST. LOUIS – Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing Female Athletes United will be available for media interviews Thursday following oral arguments in Female Athletes United v. Ellison. In the case, FAU is challenging a discriminatory Minnesota athletics policy that violates Title IX by allowing males who identify as female to compete in girls’ high-school sports.
“Minnesota is failing its female athletes,” said ADF Senior Counsel Hal Frampton, director of the ADF Center for Conscience Initiatives, who will be arguing before the court. “The state is putting males ahead of females, telling girls their hard work may never be enough to win, and that they don’t deserve a fair playing field. By sacrificing the protection of female athletes, Minnesota fails to offer girls equal treatment and opportunity, violating Title IX. We are urging the court to enforce Title IX’s guarantee of equal athletic opportunity and halt Minnesota’s discriminatory policy.”
True North Legal is serving as co-counsel for FAU.
Earlier this week, ADF attorneys represented female athletes at the U.S. Supreme Court in State of West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox.
