Federal court rules on Texas abortion regulations

Monday, Oct 28, 2013
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Michael J. Norton regarding a federal court’s decision in Planned Parenthood of Texas Surgical Health Services v. Abbott to strike down one component of a Texas law regulating abortionists while upholding other components:

“The health and safety of women is more important than an abortionist’s bottom line--including the bottom line of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion seller. The court was wrong to say that Texas can’t protect women by requiring an abortionist to have privileges at a local hospital where they can be treated in the event of complications. But the court was right to uphold the state’s requirement that abortionists adhere to FDA rules for administering abortion drugs. The fact that Planned Parenthood opposed this demonstrates clearly that they care more about cheap chemical abortions than women’s health and safety.”
