District court grants states' request to hold FDA accountable for removing critical safety standards for women and girls
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Erin Hawley, vice president of the ADF Center for Life and Center for Regulatory Practice, regarding the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas granting a motion to intervene that Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho filed last November in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration:
“We are pleased that the court is allowing the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho to intervene in this important case protecting the health and safety of women and girls who use abortion drugs. The FDA’s unlawful removal of the safety standards it once deemed necessary harms these states and ADF’s clients. The agency has betrayed women and girls, and every court so far has agreed that the FDA acted unlawfully and violated its duty to keep people safe. Both ADF and the states seek to hold the FDA accountable and ensure that women and girls using high-risk drugs receive ongoing care from a doctor.”
