The following quotes may be attributed to the three Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys who received honorary degrees Saturday from Benedictine College in recognition of their legal work and public advocacy for women and their unborn children and their pivotal roles in the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case before the U.S. Supreme Court:

“It was the privilege of a lifetime to serve as co-counsel with the state of Mississippi in the Dobbs case to help overturn one of the most egregious Supreme Court decisions in our nation’s history,” said ADF Senior Counsel Erin Hawley, vice president of the ADF Center for Life and Regulatory Practice. “Women are fully capable of embracing motherhood while also leading successful, happy lives. Thankfully, the Supreme Court’s decision has opened the door to a new era where we can continue to advance life-affirming laws and build a culture that truly supports women and their families with the care, compassion, and resources they deserve.”

“The right to life is the most fundamental human right—without it, no other rights are possible,” said ADF Senior Counsel Denise Burke. “Every life deserves protection from the moment of conception until natural death. It was a tremendous honor to work with Mississippi to help draft its pro-life law that overturned Roe and I am grateful to Benedictine College for its courageous advocacy for the dignity of life. Women and families across our nation deserve access to life-affirming healthcare, compassionate support, and strong legal protections. It is a profound privilege to dedicate my legal career to this vital mission.”

“In this post-Roe America, our calling is clear: to ensure that every woman who discovers she’s pregnant is never alone—but fully supported, empowered, and equipped to embrace both motherhood and a flourishing future,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kellie Fiedorek, director of government affairs. “Serving alongside Mississippi to advocate for women and their children and to help overturn the grave injustice of Roe v. Wade was a profound privilege. I am deeply grateful to Benedictine College for this honor and for its unwavering commitment to raising the next generation of leaders in the truth that every person possesses inherent dignity.”

Alliance Defending Freedom is an alliance-building, non-profit legal organization committed to protecting religious freedom, free speech, parental rights, and the sanctity of life.
