The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel and Senior Vice President of Corporate Engagement Jeremy Tedesco regarding a friend-of-the-court brief ADF filed Wednesday urging the U.S. Supreme Court to take the case National Rifle Association of America v. Vullo and hold government officials accountable when they knowingly violate Americans’ fundamental freedoms:

“No American should fear losing access to essential financial services. The National Rifle Association claims that Maria Vullo, as the superintendent of New York’s Department of Financial Services, violated the First Amendment by pressuring insurance providers and banks to cut ties with its group. The government can’t evade the First Amendment by pressuring banks, insurers, or other private parties to punish speech it dislikes. We’re urging the Supreme Court to take this important case and send a clear message: Government officials can’t escape accountability when they knowingly violate our freedoms.”
