The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Casey Mattox regarding a letter ADF sent Tuesday to the Council of the District of Columbia that urges it not to pass at a scheduled vote on Wednesday the proposed Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act, which would force employers within the district to provide health insurance for elective abortions regardless of the employers’ beliefs or convictions:
“The government has no business forcing pro-life organizations to pay for elective abortions. The mayor himself agrees that this bill ‘raises serious concerns under the Constitution and under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.’ He is right. The council should abandon this hopelessly illegal bill rather than waste DC taxpayer dollars defending this doomed law to appease the abortion lobby.”
